Spellcraft Creation Guide

Introduction

Designing a spell to use in a ritual requires a clear target, a precise method for moving energy, and a physical way to ground that intent; without all three, a spell can often lack the direction and stability needed to truly manifest. This guide provides a modular framework for your practice, categorizing spellcraft into three distinct parts: the Spellcraft Intentions, which represent the specific life areas you wish to impact; the Spellcraft Focus, which identify the energetic movements of your magic; and the Spellcraft Actions, which represent the physical grounding or material method of your work.

To use this toolkit, first identify the core intention of your rite from the first list, then select one or more foci from the second list to determine exactly how you will handle that energy, and finally pick a physical action from the third list to anchor the spell in the material world. By intentionally pairing an intention like Trauma Integration with a focus like Transmute and a physical action like Burn, or Personal Agency with Shield and a Talisman, you create a customized ritual architecture that is both spiritually potent and logically structured to meet your specific needs.

How to Build Your Spellcraft

  1. Dream the Goal: Allow yourself to daydream and consider what you truly want to focus the spellcraft on before starting your ritual, letting the core need surface naturally without pressure. This could involve receiving guidance via a short meditation, self-guided journey, or communication with the spirits, ancestors, and / or gods you work with.
  2. Select the Intention: Browse the Spellcraft Intentions list to find the entry that most accurately names the area of your life or psyche you are addressing.
  3. Choose the Focus: Match your intention with one or more entries from the Spellcraft Focus list to decide on the specific energetic movement you will use to achieve your goal.
  4. Pick the Action: Select a method from the Spellcraft Actions list to determine the physical grounding or material technique you will use to manifest the work in the physical world.
  5. Consult the Unseen (Optional): Once you have your trio of intention, focus, and action, perform a quick round of divination (such as drawing a card or casting runes) to see if there is any additional wisdom or insight from the unseen world that should be reflected on or included before you proceed.
  6. Build the Spellcraft: Integrate your chosen intention, focus, and action into the heart of your ritual, surrounding your spellcraft with your preferred opening and closing rites to create a complete, balanced ritual.

See the Examples (below): following these two lists you can find two examples of ways to use these steps, and the lists below, to generate spellcraft for a ritual working.

Examples

The following stories are illustrative examples and do not reflect real faeries or actual situations.

Figment’s Heartbreak

Figment sat quietly and considered the heavy weight of their recent breakup and the ongoing trouble caused by their ex. To address their broken heart and the unwanted interference, they selected Trauma Integration as their Spellcraft Intention. They matched this with the Reflect Spellcraft Focus to handle the negative vibes being sent their way and chose a Mirror as their Spellcraft Action to ground the work. After a quick divination with an oracle card suggested “clarity,” they integrated these into their ritual, positioning a small mirror toward the door to catch and bounce back any incoming malice. Figment empowered their working with this chant:

Within this glass, I see the light,
Reflect the pain and end the fight.
My trauma heals, my spirit grows,
Back to the source the malice flows.

Mirage’s Career Growth

Mirage sat at their desk in the city, daydreaming about a fresh start at a new design firm. They identified Career Advancement as their Spellcraft Intention and decided on Summon as the Spellcraft Focus to call a fulfilling new opportunity toward them. To anchor the spell in the material world, they chose to create a Sigil as their Spellcraft Action. A quick pull of some runes provided the insight to “be bold,” so they carefully drew a unique symbol of their desired career path onto a sticky note to keep on their computer monitor. They spoke these words to finish the spell:

As I draw this sacred sign,
A better job will be mine.
I summon growth and success,
My career path thus I bless.

Closing

Like all things fae, this list is neither complete nor dogmatic. Take what you want, and discard the rest. Use this to be inspired in your workings, creating spellcraft to affect every area of your life with the divine spark of creation.
