Slurp! the Zine

About

Slurp! is a zine by faeries, for faeries and our friends – showcasing the raw art, poetry, and stories of our community. This is a space for unapologetic voices, and unfiltered joy. We’re here for intersectional queer liberation, body and sex positivity, magic & earth reverence, and the unbridled joy of self-discovery. Within we honor raw vulnerability, and the messy, beautiful work of transformation.

Frequent Questions

When are new issues of Slurp! available?

Issues are approximately published at Imbolg (Winter Gatherette, early February), Beltane (early May), Lammas (Summer Gatherette, late July), and Samhain (late October).

How do I get the latest issue of Slurp!?

Issues are available at faerie houses around Chicago (WanderHaus, Rogue House, Dovetail Manor, etc), or you can reach out to Oracle on Signal: @Shivian.13 to request a copy.

If I can’t pick one up in person, can I download a copy instead?

Sorry, no. We’re a print publication only. This ensures the issue about erotic psychoactive mushroom sluts isn’t downloaded by your toxic ex, then emailed to your asshole boss.

Can I get a copy mailed to me?

We don’t have the capability to mail copies of Slurp! at this time – but we’re working on it! Until then, perhaps you can ask a Chicago faerie to mail you a copy?

Does Slurp! accept AI submissions, or pieces that were AI supported?

Yes, Slurp! accepts all types of content, including those made with AI collaboration. Authors must disclose the amount of AI used in their piece during submission. Pieces crafted by humans will receive publishing priority. We categorize content into three different types:

  • Human & AI Collab: the author collaborated with AI, using it to generate some or all of the actual content in the final piece.
  • Human Crafted, AI Support: the author created the final piece themselves, using AI strictly as a supportive tool (e.g., brainstorming, editing, researching).
  • Fully Human Crafted: the author created this piece entirely independently, without using AI to support them in any way.

We encourage creators using digital tools to engage with them critically. Whether it’s software, hardware, or AI we strongly support the use of opensource software; ethically trained AI platforms with opt-out datasets; and hardware made with environmentally sustainable, fair-labor practices. We also urge creators to prioritize platforms that respect user privacy and actively resist surveillance capitalism. Protecting our personal and collective data is a vital part of community care.

Does my content have to fit the theme?

Get inspired by the themes, but know that all submissions are welcome, regardless of the topic.
